Mariners improving on the road
Seattle is 11-9 on the season following a series win at Texas. The Mariners are now 6-4 on the road for the season. Seattle is putting up 4.35 runs per game at the plate while allowing 4.95 per contest.
Mike Leake gets the start tonight. He is 2-1 through four starts with a 4.50 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. Over 24 innings of work, he has 15 strikeouts with 10 walks and 12 earned runs allowed.
White Sox unable to get on track
Chicago continued its losing way this weekend in three losses at home to Houston. They were outscored 27-2 in the three games. The Sox have lost seven straight overall, being held to 2 runs or less in six of the seven losses. Chicago is now 4-14 overall and 1-8 at home. The Sox are putting up just 3.56 runs per game while allowing 6.67 per contest.
Miguel Gonzalez gets the start for Chicago tonight. He is 0-3 with a 12.41 ERA over three starts. He has given up 17 earned runs over 12.1 innings with five strikeouts and six walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners are 4-1 in their last five road games and 5-2 in their last seven series openers. They also are 13-6 in their last 19 games against a starter with a WHIP over 1.30.
Chicago
The White Sox are just 3-13 in their last 16 games on grass and 1-10 in their last 11 games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
Chicago has been a mess and Gonzalez has definitely been a part of it. He is giving up more than one run per inning and I don’t see him being able to shut down a Seattle lineup that is getting more productive on the road. Leake should be able to drop some of his season numbers against this struggling Chicago lineup as well.
The Pick: Seattle Mariners -140
