Orioles unable to string together wins
The Orioles failed to win back-to-back games after a slight upset on Friday. On Saturday, Baltimore lost 4-0 to the Indians as their hitting failed to produce a run. The Orioles are now 6-15 overall and 3-5 at home this season. They are averaging just 3.45 runs per game this season, but allowing 5.50 per game.
Andrew Cashner takes the mound for Baltimore this afternoon. He is 1-2 through four starts with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. His hitters have produced two runs or less in three of his four starts. Cashner has racked up 21 strikeouts and 11 walks over 24 innings.
Tribe relying on pitching
Cleveland snapped a two-game losing streak on Saturday with the 4-0 win, but the hitting has been a bit disappointing this year. Cleveland is averaging just 3.35 runs per game this season. Thankfully for them, they allow just 3.00 runs per game. That has allowed Cleveland to go 10-8 on the season and 4-6 on the road.
The Tribe turn to their ace, Corey Kluber, this afternoon. He is 2-1 through four starts with a 1.52 ERA and a 0.74 WHIP. Kluber has recorded 33 strikeouts and six walks through 29.2 innings of work this season. He also has seen his team score two runs or less in three of his four starts.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians have won Kluber’s last four Sunday starts and eight of his last 10 road starts. However, Cleveland is just 1-5 in its last six against AL East opponents.
Baltimore
The Orioles are 2-12 in their last 14 Game 3’s of a series and 1-6 in their last seven against AL Central opponents. They are also 2-7 in their last nine home games against a team with a winning record.
Prediction:
I don’t love the odds here. I know Cleveland has their dominant ace on the mound, but their hitting has been very subpar. Baltimore’s hitting hasn’t been good either, but the Orioles actually have a strong pitcher on the mound today. This game could be a 1-0 or 2-1 contest. With that, I am going to take my chances on the big home underdog.
The Pick: Baltimore Orioles +205
