The Arizona Diamondbacks haven’t had to rebound from many losses this season. But after falling to the San Diego Padres 4-1 on Friday night, that’s exactly what the Snakes will attempt to do on Saturday night when the two National League West rivals meet again at 8:10 p.m. ET.

Padres’ Richard erratic in early going of 2018
Clayton Richard allowed four earned runs, seven hits and three walks with three strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Giants. Richard gave way to Adam Cimber who ended up picking up the relief with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts before turning it over to Phil Maton and then closer Brad Hand.
Richard struggled with his location, throwing just 48 of his 89 pitches for strikes. He has been rather erratic during the early going.
Godley coming off first rough outing of 2018
Zack Godley turned in his first subpar outing of 2018 on Sunday, allowing six runs — five earned — including six walks over four innings in a loss to the Dodgers. Godley struck out two in a flawless first inning, but it was all downhill from there. Most shocking was the six walks, after he’d walked just one in his first two starts combined.
Two great and one subpar outing is still a pretty good beginning of a follow-up after his breakout 2017 season, and he’ll carry a 3.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 16/7 K/BB ratio into Saturday’s matchup with the Padres.
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are just 4-9 in Richard’s last 13 road starts and are 2-7 in his last nine road outings when he faces an opponent with a winning record.
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 1-5 in Godley’s last six starts versus a team with a losing record.
Prediction:
The Diamondbacks are too pricey on the money line tonight and they’re not hitting enough to be a trustworthy option on the runline. Thus, I’m taking the under and banking on Arizona’s offense to stay grounded and Godley to bounce back from his first rough outing of the season. The under is a perfect 6-0 in the Diamondbacks’ last six home games and is 9-1 in Godley’s last 10 starts during the second game of a series.
The Pick: Padres/Diamondbacks under 8
