Sean Manaea has pitched extremely well to start the 2018 season but he has a losing record to show for his efforts. Will Manaea actually earn a victory today when the Oakland A’s and Seattle Mariners wrap up their weekend series?

Public Betting Trends
Oddsmakers from online sportsbook YouWager currently list the A’s as a -111 favorite. As of this writing, 64% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Mariners to beat the A’s on the moneyline. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on this game.
Manaea has pitched well despite record
Sean Manaea allowed two earned runs, seven hits and a walk with five strikeouts over five innings in a loss Tuesday on the road against the Dodgers. Manaea served up solo homers to Chris Taylor and Corey Seager to get into a quick 2-0 hole, but he recovered after that and gave his team a chance to hang in the game. He has racked up 16 strikeouts over 20 2/3 innings in three starts, posting a 1.74 ERA despite an ugly 1-2 record.
Quotable: “Mental stuff and everything like that, I tell myself everything is gonna be all right,” Manaea said after his last outing. “That’s how I’ve kind of been dealing with things. Not taking it way too seriously and thinking that’s gonna be the end. You just gotta go out there and keep pitching.”
Hernandez coming off victory over Royals
Felix Hernandez notched a win after allowing three runs in 5 2/3 innings Tuesday against the Royals. Hernandez is 2-1 after three starts, but nothing so far suggests that he’s going to be much of a fantasy asset this year. Three strikeouts and one walk tonight leave him with an 8/8 K/BB ratio through 15 innings. He’s also given up four homers already.
Quotable: “The top of our order has been really, really good,” Mariners manager Scott Servais said. “They’ve been driving the train, so to speak, and we’re going to need them to continue to do that.”
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The A’s are winless at 0-6 in their last six games in Seattle and are 19-39 in their last 58 games versus the Mariners overall.
Seattle
The Mariners are 31-11 in Hernandez’s last 42 starts versus the A’s.
Prediction:
I like Manaea to be rewarded for his efforts this afternoon. The A’s are 8-3 in his last 11 starts versus a team with aw inning record and have cashed in all four of his last four outings when he’s coming off four days of rest. The Mariners, meanwhile, are just 2-5 in their last seven games when playing the third game of a series. I’ll fade the public and lay the price with the A’s.
The Pick: Oakland A’s -111
