This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Fulmer proving to be Detroit’s ace
Michael Fulmer makes his third start for the Tigers tonight and he is 1-1 in 2018 with just a 0.68 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. The loss he took saw him allowed just one run over eight innings to the Pirates. He followed that up with 5.1 scoreless innings against the White Sox. Fulmer has a 3.34 ERA over his career with a 1.14 WHIP.
The Tigers have dropped the first three games in the series after scoring only two runs in the three contests. The hitting has been disappointing against some solid starters for Cleveland. Detroit still is averaging 3.64 runs per game despite the three-game skid.
Indians hot on the mound
Cleveland has held its last seven opponents to three runs or less and its last six to two or less. On the season, the Tribe are allowing just 2.83 runs per game. Tonight’s starters, Trevor Bauer, is 0-1 after two starts, but has allowed just three earned runs over 13 innings of work. He has recorded 14 strikeouts with five walks.
The Indians are on their longest win streak of their season so far at four. Their hitting has been surprisingly quiet so far this year. They have been held to two runs or less in six games this season. On the season they are averaging just 3 runs per game.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
Despite his good pitching, the Tigers are just 2-7 in Fulmer’s last nine starts and 1-4 in his last five road starts. The Tigers are also just 13-39 in their last 52 games against a right-handed starter.
Cleveland
The Indians have won seven of their last eight games against a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. Cleveland has also won seven of its last 10 at home when Bauer starts and 40 of their last 55 against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
Cleveland has managed to dominate this series and its pitching has been the main reason this week. Bauer has good numbers despite not getting wins. The Indians will have their hands full with Fulmer, but the Tigers have a bullpen issue after Jordan Zimmerman had to leave yesterday’s game in the first inning. Even if Fulmer is solid, the bullpen isn’t a guarantee to come through. I like Cleveland to continue their success.
The Pick: Cleveland Indians -190
