OUR PREDICTION
Darvish burned plenty of bettors a week ago when he was roughed up by a bard Marlins team in Miami. I think for that reason, the Cubs’ money line odds aren’t as expensive today in Milwaukee. I see value in backing a Darvish bounceback. Granted, he’s pitching in a hitter’s park today but he has elite strikeout potential and Christian Yelich is likely to miss yet another game for the Brewers.
On the other side, Davies was roughed up in his start, allowing eight hits and six runs in only 5 2/3 innings. Unlike Darvish, Davies has average strikeout ability, which could be problematic against Anthony Rizzo, Ian Happ, Kyle Schwarber and Kris Bryant. This isn’t my favorite play today but I do see value in taking the Cubs in what feels like a discounted price.
