The Orioles opened this series with a 5-2 win on Thursday thanks to a five-run seventh inning. Adam Jones had a two-run home run to start the scoring and Anthony Santander added a RBI double before Trey Mancinci drove in the final two runs on a single. The scoring burst allowed Andrew Cashner to get the win and move to 1-1 on the season. He allowed one earned run over six innings with five strikeouts and two hits.
Masahiro Tanaka was cruising through six innings, but blew up in the seventh and took the loss to fall to 1-1 on the season. He gave up three runs on six hits while Chad Green allowed the other two runs in the seventh. Aaron Judge hit his second home run of the season in the loss.
I don’t see Baltimore beating New York in New York too consistently. Gausman doesn’t give me a lot of confidence on the mound and the Yankee hitters are going to put up big numbers at home more than they won’t. Sabathia had a promising 2017 season and looked good in his first start. I think he will avoid having the one bad inning like Tanaka did and lead New York to the win.
MLB PREDICTIONS: NEW YORK YANKEES -170
