Chicago White Sox DFS SPIN
Yermin Mercedes went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI on Saturday in a loss to the Angels. What a couple of days for the 28-year-old designated hitter. Mercedes continued his streak by taking Alex Cobb deep in the second inning for his first major league home run, a solo shot. Mercedes’ eighth straight hit was an RBI double in the sixth inning, scoring Yoan Moncada. Five of Mercedes’ eight hits were on two strikes; his swing on two strikes is notably cleaner in approach. Mercedes is the first player in the modern era (since 1900) to begin a season with eight consecutive hits. He’s certainly earned the DH spot, and should be on the collective radars of fantasy managers.
Los Angeles Angels DFS SPIN
Justin Upton’s two run dinger in the eighth inning was what the Angels needed for a thrilling come from behind victory over the White Sox on Saturday, 5-3. Upton’s two run shot, his first of the season, scored the winning runs for the Angels. Evan Marshall had given up a triple to Jared Walsh prior to Upton’s at-bat, which tied the game. Upton’s spring is deserving of some recognition, as he wrapped things up with a 1.138 OPS. So far in the regular season, Upton sits at an .833 OPS through 10 at-bats.
