Indians vs. Mariners Pick
Will the Seattle Mariners start the season 2-0 when they host the Cleveland Indians today at 4:10PM ET?
Saturday, March 31, 2018
Location: Safeco Field – Seattle, Washington
Time: 4:10PM ET
The Indians will put Carlos Carrasco on the mound today to face James Paxton of the Mariners. Carrasco is coming off his best season as a pro, posting an 18-6 record with a 3.29 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. He recorded 226 strikeouts with just 46 walks. Paxton was 12-5 last season over 24 starts. He had a 2.98 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP. Paxton had 156 strikeouts with 37 walks.
PUBLIC BETTING INFORMATION
The public is backing the Indians today. Cleveland is currently getting 75 percent of the wagers for this game on the road against the Mariners.
The Indians are opening the season with Michael Brantley on the injury report due to an ankle injury. He is on the DL after offseason surgery but is expected to return sometime in April. Seattle catcher Mike Zunino is on the DL right now after suffering an oblique strain.
The Mariners started the season on Thursday with a big 2-1 win over the Indians. Seattle managed to put up two runs in the first inning on Corey Kluber and hold on from there. Nelson Cruz hit a two-run home run off Kluber in the first. The ace of the Indians still pitched eight innings and recorded eight strikeouts, but his hitters couldn’t back him up.
Felix Hernandez earned the win for Seattle after pitching 5.1 scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Cleveland got its lone run of the game in the seventh inning on a RBI single from Yan Gomes.
Today could see another pitching duel with limited runs. Carrasco can rack up the strikeouts while Paxton has shown an ability to get plenty of misses as well. Carrasco is the pitcher I trust a little more and I think Cleveland has the better overall lineup. If he can avoid Cruz and Robinson Cano, he should be able to lead his team to the win.
