Valero Texas Open Picks

The 2016 Valero Texas Open begins play on Thursday morning. Here are some golfers we like to contend for this year’s championship.

According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Jimmy Walker is the favorite to win this weekend’s tournament, as he has 14/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Branden Grace and Patrick Reed, who each come in with 16/1 odds. The Valero Texas Open takes place Thursday-Sunday from AT&T Oaks Course in San Antonio, Texas.

Bet on the Valero Texas Open

Jimmy Walker is the defending champion and that means a lot coming into a somewhat lackluster field. Walker is only 26th in the world rankings, but he has three top-10 finishes in 2016. Look for Walker to contend for a repeat at a course he is strong at.

Matt Kuchar has 18/1 odds to win this weekend and we think he could emerge the winner. Kuchar has finished ninth in two of his last three events and has three top-10 finishes in 2016. Kuchar was 15th at this event last year with a more competitive field than he will see this week. Look for Kuchar to contend for the title.

Zach Johnson is 20/1 to win this weekend and he is a two-time champion of the event, last winning in 2009. Johnson struggled at The Masters and the RBC Heritage, but he had back-to-back top-10 finishes prior to that. Johnson is someone that doesn’t stay in a funk for long, so look for him to bounce back in a big way this weekend.
