Mickelson not a major contender?
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – Phil Mickelson flirted with winning another major in 2014. Will he find a way to do so in 2015?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Mickelson has been given odds of +600 to win one major in 2015. The odds of him going without a major has been set at -2000. There are also odds for Lefty to win two majors (+6600), three majors (+30000) or win the grand slam (+100000)
Mickelson dealt with injuries during the year and had some inconsistencies in 2014. He missed the cut in the Masters, but then finished in the top 30 in the U.S. Open and British Open. He nearly claimed his second PGA Championship, but came in second to Rory McIlroy.
Mickelson has won a total of five majors in his career. The only major he has yet to win is the U.S. Open. He last won a major in 2013, claiming the British Open. It was his first major championship in two years. Mickelson has earned at least one top-10 finish in a major 14 of the last 15 years.
