SAN DIEGO @ ARIZONA | 04/28 | 9:40 PM EDT
ARIZONA +1.5
ANALYSIS: Arizona at -115 on the runline is good value at home in the series finale Wednesday. Snakes pitcher Taylor Widener (1-0, 2.82) worked six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out five, when facing the Padres at Petco Park early this month. Friars rookie lefty Ryan Weathers (1-0, 0.59) has been great but is essentially a middle reliever who is starting -- he won't be out there more than five innings. Rather oddly, San Diego has lost seven straight Wednesday games dating to last season.

ST. LOUIS @ MINNESOTA | 04/28 | 7:00 PM EDT
MINNESOTA -140
ANALYSIS: Minnesota lost back-to-back games in St. Louis on April 9 & 10 but hasn't lost since, carrying a seven-game winning streak and pushing Vegas and Colorado for the top spot in the West Division. The Wild, who have a league-best plus-21 goal differential in the opening period, are pretty healthy while St. Louis is banged up on the blueline. The Blues also have dropped their past five away, and No. 1 netminder Jordan Binnington has a 3.35 GAA while losing four straight road starts. The home team is 5-2 in the past seven meetings.

COLORADO @ VEGAS | 04/28 | 9:30 PM EDT
VEGAS -125
ANALYSIS: Great matchup Wednesday between the top two clubs in the West Division, and these teams have the two best goal differentials in the NHL. We love Vegas at this short price. Colorado is loaded when fully healthy but is far from that right now due to injury/COVID protocols. Mainly, No. 1 netminder Philipp Grubauer will not play Wednesday for sure. Vegas is pretty healthy, on a franchise-record nine-game winning streak and 18-4-2 at home. Meanwhile, Stephen Oh's model pick for this one is Over 5.5 goals, and I agree with Grubauer out. I'd be willing to bet that total rises to 6 by the morning.

L.A. LAKERS @ WASHINGTON | 04/28 | 7:30 PM EDT
OVER 223.5
ANALYSIS: Washington's Bradley Beal continues to duel Steph Curry for the NBA scoring title. These teams played a barn-burner on Feb. 22 with the Wizards prevailing 127-124 in overtime back when L.A. had a healthy LeBron James but not Anthony Davis. Beal had 33 points and Russell Westbrook 32. This likely will not be that high-scoring, but my model simulations have 68 percent of forecasts landing Over the total of 223.5.

COLORADO @ VEGAS | 04/28 | 9:30 PM EDT
OVER 5.5
ANALYSIS: These are arguably the two best teams in the NHL but are stuck in the same West Division and thus can't meet in a conference finals. The Over is 5-2 in the Golden Knights' past seven games and 6-1 in the Avalanche's past seven vs. teams with a winning record. My model simulations forecast 62 percent of results in this matchup landing Over the too-small total of 5.5 goals.

MINNESOTA @ CLEVELAND | 04/28 | 1:10 PM EDT
CLEVELAND +110
ANALYSIS: First game of Wednesday with a 1:10 p.m. ET first pitch, although there could be some weather delays in northeast Ohio. My model believes the wrong team -- Cleveland -- has opened as the underdog with 56 percent of simulations forecasting an outright Indians victory. Minnesota is 2-5 in its past seven road games vs. lefties, and the Indians are scheduled to start southpaw Logan Allen.

COLORADO @ SAN FRANCISCO | 04/28 | 9:45 PM GMT
SAN FRANCISCO -145

ANALYSIS: I am going back to it after the Giants' extra-inning loss on Tuesday. I won’t lie, it still stings, and the way San Francisco blew that game kept me up a bit. I do feel like the Giants gifted that contest to the Rockies, and I don't expect that to happen again on Wednesday after Colorado notched its first road win of the year. Back San Francisco to clinch the series win.

CINCINNATI @ L.A. DODGERS | 04/28 | 4:10 PM GMT
OVER 8
ANALYSIS: Let’s not get cute, both of these teams can score. The Reds are loaded with solid hitters and the Dodgers will always find a way to manufacture runs. Cincinnati is 6-2-1 OU when it is the underdog and 7-2-1 OU in its last 10. Reds RHP Sonny Gray certainly is not the type of pitcher who makes you stay off a total, either. Let’s roll with the Over.

OAKLAND @ TAMPA BAY | 04/28 | 7:10 PM GMT
TAMPA BAY -1.5
ANALYSIS: The Rays lost in RHP Tyler Glasnow’s last outing as they couldn’t recover from the four runs allowed in the first inning against Toronto. I’m betting on Glasnow to have a better opening frame and notch a quality start, which gives Tampa Bay a good shot to cover this spread at plus money (-1.5 at +120). Let’s go Rays!

ORLANDO @ CLEVELAND | 04/28 | 7:00 PM GMT
CLEVELAND -3.5
ANALYSIS: The Magic are 0-12 ATS on the road with less than two days rest off a game as a dog after being outscored in the paint by double digits and 0-8 ATS off a loss in which they had less than 40 percent of the total rebounds. The Cavs are 10-0 ATS at home with less than two days rest off a road loss by more than 10 points when they are facing a team that is averaging more than 45.0 rebounds per game. We are on Cleveland.

N.Y. YANKEES @ BALTIMORE | 04/28 | 7:05 PM GMT
N.Y. YANKEES -157
ANALYSIS: The Yankees are 20-0 with Domingo German when he averaged fewer than 4.0 pitches per batter and went fewer than seven innings in his last start. The Orioles are 0-8 as a dog when they won the last two games their starter started. We are on the Yankees.

COLORADO @ SAN FRANCISCO | 04/28 | 9:45 PM GMT
SAN FRANCISCO -145
ANALYSIS: The Giants are 9-0 in not the first game of a series as a favorite after they drew one or fewer walks, and it is before the All-Star break. The Rockies are 0-11 on the road when they came back from a deficit to win in their starter's last start and 0-10 as a road dog after an extra-inning game. We make the Giants the play.

CINCINNATI @ L.A. DODGERS | 04/28 | 4:10 PM GMT
L.A. DODGERS -203
ANALYSIS: The Dodgers are 12-0 as a favorite of -140 or more in the last game of a three-game series when they lost the first two and it is before the All-Star break. They also are 9-0 as a favorite off a home game when their opponent’s starter has an ERA of higher than 4.00 on the season. Meanwhile the Reds are 0-17 in the last game of a series as a dog of +170 or more after a game in which they scored in more innings than their opponent and it is before the All-Star break and 0-16 after a game as a road dog in which they scored first, trailed and then won. The Dodgers impose their will on the Reds.

SAN DIEGO @ ARIZONA | 04/28 | 9:40 PM GMT
SAN DIEGO -160
ANALYSIS: The Padres are 10-0 as a favorite of -140 or more after a game as a road favorite in which they did not hit a home run. They also are 10-0 in the second game of a series as a favorite of -140 or more after a loss in which they had at least three times as many hits as runs, and it is before the All-Star break. The Diamondbacks are 0-14 as a home dog after playing as a home dog when their starters have produced quality starts for three straight. Take San Diego.

SEATTLE @ HOUSTON | 04/28 | 8:10 PM GMT
HOUSTON -1.5

ANALYSIS: The Astros have won five of six, scoring 38 runs (6.3 per game) in that span. Current Mariners are batting a collective .194 against Zack Greinke, with zero homers in 87 at-bats. Seattle has mustered a total of five runs in its current three-game skid. This matchup vs. Seattle is one Houston typically dominates; the Astros took the first two games of the series by 5-2 and 2-0 scores. Play Houston on the run line at -110.

CHICAGO @ NEW YORK | 04/28 | 7:30 PM EDT
NEW YORK -4
ANALYSIS: The Bulls pulled off a surprising win on the road against the Heat on Monday despite playing without Zach LaVine (COVID-19). They are in a tough spot to try and earn another win here against the Knicks, who had their nine-game winning streak snapped by the Suns on Monday. Despite that loss, the Knicks are 21-11 at home and have an identical 21-11 record ATS at home. With LaVine still out for the Bulls, I expect the Knicks to get back on the winning track here, while also covering along the way.

PHILADELPHIA @ ST. LOUIS | 04/28 | 7:45 PM EDT
ST. LOUIS +1.5
ANALYSIS: We've been on the Cards as very short opening moneyline underdogs in each game of this series (again, they may be favored by first pitch) but using the runline at +1.5, and we'll do it again considering the Phillies are starting the awful Vince Velasquez (0-0, 6.75). Johan Oviedo will make his first start of the season for the Cards. He pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings in relief on April 11.

John Bollman

PHILADELPHIA @ ST. LOUIS | 04/28 | 7:45 PM EDT
ST. LOUIS -105
ANALYSIS: Johan Oviedo gets the start after pitching 4.1 innings in relief this season. He faces Vince Velasquez who allowed two runs in 4 IP in his only start this season. The Cardinals have won four of their last five games, all at home, and they might be streaking if they hadn’t run into the buzzsaw that is Zach Wheeler right now. The Cards are much better at home and the Phillies are 3-8 on the road, take the value in the Cards at home.

SAN DIEGO @ ARIZONA | 04/28 | 9:40 PM EDT
ARIZONA +143
ANALYSIS: The Diamondbacks have sneakily won seven of their last eight games, all as underdogs, and they’ve scored at least four runs in all eight of those games. They’ve got Taylor Widener starting who is 1-0 with a 2.82 ERA this season and he has faced the Padres this season throwing six scoreless innings. Ryan Weathers has looked great since being added to the rotation, he hasn’t allowed a run in two starts. However, this is a really small sample size and he faced the Dodgers twice who are ranked 20th in the league in OPS against lefties. The Dbacks are ranked first in the league against lefties with a .944 OPS and it isn’t even close. This is just a bad matchup for the Padres, take the Dbacks at home.

CHI. CUBS @ ATLANTA | 04/28 | 7:20 PM EDT
ATLANTA -130
ANALYSIS: Huascar Ynoa is 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA this season, with his lone blemish coming against the Cubs in Chicago. He faces Kyle Hendricks who is 1-2 with a 5.68 ERA this season. Hendricks threw a quality start in his last outing, but he allowed seven runs in 4 innings in his start against the Braves. The Cubs have lost four games in a row, getting shut out in two of them, and they are 2-6 on the road this season. Take the value in the Braves at home.

COLORADO @ VEGAS | 04/28 | 9:30 PM EDT
VEGAS -140
ANALYSIS: The Golden Knights have won a franchise-record nine straight games and both of their goalies have been on fire. The Aves have lost their last two games after starting strong with Devan Dubnyk in net. The Aves are still without Philip Grubauer and Mikko Rantanen, and the Knights are playing their best hockey of the season right now. The Aves are just 13-7-2 on the road while the Knights are 18-4-2 at home. Take the value in the Knights at home.

ST. LOUIS @ MINNESOTA | 04/28 | 7:00 PM EDT
MINNESOTA -150
ANALYSIS: The Wild have won seven straight games and they return home where they are 17-4-0 this season. They get the Blues who have won two games in a row but are just 5-5 in their last 10 games. Cam Talbot is 16-6-3 with a 2.33 GAA and he’s even better at home. These two teams have only faced off three times this season with the home team winning all three. Take the value in the Wild at home.

UNDER 7

ANALYSIS: The wind is blowing out slightly to center in Sand Francisco, and the Rockies are smoking the ball lately. Their last four games have gone Over the total, but I think Wednesday's pitching matchup will keep things quiet in a low-scoring game. German Marquez, who hasn’t allowed more than three runs in any of his five starts and only 11 runs overall, will set the tone. Alex Wood has allowed just one run in both his starts. Under is the play.

CHICAGO @ NEW YORK | 04/28 | 7:30 PM EDT
NEW YORK -175
ANALYSIS: It's always a bit dangerous to wager on a team right after a long winning streak was just snapped as New York's was Monday, but the Knicks are clearly better than the Bulls, are at home (with fans) and will apparently welcome back key reserve Alec Burks from COVID protocols. Chicago burned me big in Miami on Monday, but that was mostly a fluke and the Bulls remain without Zach LaVine. They may not reach 100 points against that top-ranked New York defense and former Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau.

CINCINNATI @ L.A. DODGERS | 04/28 | 4:10 PM EDT
L.A. DODGERS -210
ANALYSIS: I went to bed last night with the Dodgers leading the Reds 5-3 fairly late in the game and figured I had won on L.A. at -1.5 on the runline. The Dodgers lost 6-5 and are on their first three-game skid since Aug. 29-31, 2019. I find it hard to imagine they are swept a series at home even though Cincinnati is solid enough. Reds starter Sonny Gray (0-1, 7.88 ERA) has not been sharp in two starts off back problems. L.A.'s Clayton Kershaw (3-2, 2.56) is 3-1 with a 1.38 ERA over his last four starts. I'm not taking the runline here even though it's tempting on L.A. at even money but will risk the big price of -210 on the moneyline. The Reds are 3-8 in their past 11 vs. lefties

CHI. CUBS @ ATLANTA | 04/28 | 7:20 PM EDT
ATLANTA -130
ANALYSIS: Huascar Ynoa (3.68 ERA) impressed last time out, holding Arizona to two runs over six innings. At home this season, he's fanned 15 batters in 12 innings. Look for him to be much more effective than he was when he faced the Cubs at Wrigley Field on April 17. The Braves have generated 13 runs in the first two games of this series, both wins, and Ronald Acuna (8 HRs) got back on track Tuesday with a mammoth homer. Lay it with the Braves.
