According to oddsmakers at online sports book Bodog.com, Power has 6/1 odds to win this year’s Indy 500.
Power will start from the second row on Sunday, in the fifth position. In the history of the Indianapolis 500, 17 winners have started in Row 2 and seven winners have come from the fifth starting position. The last driver to win when starting fifth was Buddy Lazier in 1996.
Will Power has competed in three Indianapolis 500’s in his career. His best finish in the race is fifth, which he got in 2009. His worst finish was 13th in his debut in 2008. Last year, Power qualified second but finished eighth.
This year, Power has two race victories in four IRL events. He is the current points leader by 14 over Dario Franchitti. Power has finished runner-up in one other race and his worst finish on the year is 10th.
The Indianapolis 500 will take place Sunday, May 29 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at Noon ET. The race will air on ABC.
