Wednesday’s Olympics Predictions

The Winter Olympics action continues on Wednesday night/Thursday morning with some big events. Here’s who we like to claim gold.

Women’s Hockey Final: USA vs. Canada

The gold medal match in hockey comes down to USA vs. Canada. According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the United States is favored to win this game, as it has odds of -155 to win, while Canada is getting a money line of +130 to prevail. The US already suffered a loss to Canada during group play, but outshot the Canadians 2-to-1. However, I don’t think that is a positive for the Americans. The US played a dominant game and still won. They can’t expect that same shooting dominance in this game. Canada has had the number of the US for years and history says to take Canada as the underdog. Pressure is on the Americans. WOMEN’S HOCKEY PREDICTION: CANADA +130

Bet on Winter Olympics Odds

Men’s Slalom

The gold medal will be decided in Men’s Slalom and Marcel Hirscher of Austria is the favorite to win gold with -225 odds. Henrik Kristoffersen has +275 odds while the next shortest odds are at +1600. Hirscher won silver in the 2014 Olympics in this event and he has already claimed a pair of gold medals at these games. Kristoffersen finished with the bronze in 2014 and hasn’t been able to beat Hirscher in most global competitions. Hirscher is having one of the best Winter Olympics in skiing history and I expect it to continue in this event. MEN’S SLALOM PREDICTION: MARCEL HIRSCHER -225

Men’s Curling Semifinal: Canada vs. United States

After a shaky start, the United States finished group play nicely and now will face Canada in the semifinals for a chance to play for gold. Oddsmakers have Canada as a -325 favorite to win this match, while the United State is listed with +230 odds. The US picked up a 9-7 win over Canada in 11 ends during group play and they scored the most points (67) in the nine matches. However, they also gave up the most (63) outside of Denmark’s 70. Canada allowed just 46 points during group play and is the more consistent team. Canada has history on its side in this match. It would be a big win for the Americans, but I don’t like their chances to beat Canada twice in these Olympics. MEN’S CURLING PREDICTION: CANADA -325
