Went The Day Well Preakness Odds

BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) – After finishing fourth at the Kentucky Derby, Went The Day Well will try to crack the top three at this weekend’s Preakness.

According to oddsmakers, Went The Day Well is 8/1 to win the 2012 Preakness Stakes. Bodemeister and 2012 Kentucky Derby winner I’ll Have Another are co-favorites at 3/1, respectively, while Went The Day Well and Creative Cause have the next best odds at 8/1, respectively.

As previously mentioned, Went The Day Well finished fourth at the Grade I Kentucky Derby on May 5 and in his previous race, he won the Grade III Vinery Racing Spiral Stakes. He also won a MSW on March 3, finished fourth in a MSW on February 4, and placed second at the Soar Maiden Stakes (Class 4, Division I) on October 11 of last year.

Went The Day Well enters the Preakness Stakes with a race record of 4-2-0-0 and has grossed $382,000 in total earnings throughout his career. The 3-year-old colt is a sire of Proud Citizen and a dam of Tiz Males Day. He has also been confirmed to race this Saturday.

This will be the 137th running of the Preakness Stakes, which was inaugurated in 1873. It’s a 1 3/16 (9.5 furlongs) race and carries a purse of $1 million. The Gates at Pimlico Race Course will open at 8:00AM ET and the Preakness post time is set for 6:05PM ET.
