Women’s Figure Skating
The Women’s Figure Skating competition is always one of the most viewed events as part of the Winter Olympics and this year’s competition will be no different.
According to vancouver2010.com, in this event, skaters must complete both a short program (maximum 2 minutes 50 seconds) of required steps, jumps, spins and combinations, and a longer free skating program (4 minutes for ladies, 4 minutes 30 seconds for men), both set to music. The free skate — worth two-thirds of a skater’s final score — allows the athletes to demonstrate their creativity, innovative moves and technical difficulty.
The defending world champion, Yu-Na Kim is favored to take home the gold in this event.
Kim has odds of 1/2 to win the gold medal in this event according to online sports book Sportsbook.com. Other short odds to win are Joannie Rochette (11/2), Mao Asada (11/2), and Miki Ando (15/2).
