The Blind Side Odds
The feeling good movie “The Blind Side” has an uphill battle to win Best Picture at the 2010 Academy Awards, but don’t count the underdog out.
“The Blind Side” is a 2009 American sports drama written about John Lee Hancock and starring Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Quinton Aaron and Kathy Bates. The film is based on the 2006 book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis about offensive lineman Michael Oher. The story follows Oher from his rough childhood upbringing through his selection in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
The film grossed $34,510,00 in its opening weekend and soon became the highest grossing football movie and sports drama of all time. The movie also hit $200 million domestically on New Year’s Day of this year.
Along with its nomination for Best Picture, Bullock has received an Academy Award for Best Actress and she’s already won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of the real life Leigh Anne Tuohy.
