Up Best Picture Odds
The 2009 animated film “Up” is a long shot to win Best Picture at the 2010 Academy Awards, which takes place Sunday, March 7.
“Up” is directed by Pete Docter, produced by Jonas Rivera and stars Ed Asner, Christopher Plummer, Jordan Nagai and Bob Peterson. Along with best Picture, “Up” has also been nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Animated Feature, Best Original Score and Best Sound Editing.
According to the film’s IMBD page, the plot is about a 78-year-old man named Carl Fredrickson who sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South Africa, so he ties thousands of balloons to his home. But right after lift off, he learns that Russell, an 8-year-old wilderness explorer, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip.
Oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com has made “Up” a long shot at +5000 on the money line to win Best Picture at the 82nd Oscars. “Avatar” is –250 to win, while “The Hurt Locker” is +120 and “Up in the Air” is +800.
