District 9 Odds
“District 9” is a massive long shot to win the Best Picture category of the 2010 Academy Awards, but the film could surprise on March 7.
“District 9” is a 2009 science fiction thriller directed by Neill Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson. The film stars Sharlto Copley, Jason Cope and David James.
“District 9” is a movie about an extraterrestrial race forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth, which suddenly finds a kindred spirit in a government agent who is exposed to their biotechnology. It’s a science fiction thriller, although it has several comedic moments.
Along with Best Picture, “District 9” is also up for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com have made “District 9” a +6000 underdog on the money line to win Best Picture at the 82nd Oscars. “Avatar” is –250 to win, while “The Hurt Locker” is +120 and “Up in the Air” is +800.
