Thursday has nearly two-thirds of the league in action as the first week of March 2026 continues. It features 9 contests on a full NBA slate with start times ranging from 7:00 PM ET to 10:00 PM ET. Can the Heat cover the 12.5-point spread as home favorites against the Nets? Will the Warriors and Rockets combine to score over 215.5 points in Houston? I’ll make picks for both contests below. Read on for our Thursday NBA Best Bets March 5 article.
NBA Best Bet: Miami Heat -12.5 over Brooklyn Nets
I like Miami here. The Heat are primed to dominate the Brooklyn Nets at home, largely due to their superior depth and consistent execution. Miami’s success is backed by strong situational trends: they are 17-13 ATS as the home team, 18-15 ATS on one day of rest, and a dominant 21-11 ATS when facing an opponent on equal rest this season.
Furthermore, the Heat’s 20-15 ATS record in conference games highlights their ability to lock in against Eastern rivals. Expect Miami’s elite defense to stifle Brooklyn’s inconsistent offense, allowing the Heat to pull away late and comfortably cover the 12.5-point margin.
Final score projection: MIAMI HEAT 119, BROOKLYN NETS 102.
NBA Best Bet: Warriors vs. Rockets Over 215.5
I’d take the over in this contest. The Warriors and Rockets are set for a high-scoring showdown that should easily clear the 215.5-point total. Golden State’s pace-heavy style has seen the over go 36-25 in their games this season. Additionally, the over is 16-13 in the Warriors’ road contests this year.
Houston is also heating up offensively, with the over hitting in 4 of their last 5 games overall. Historically, this matchup produces fireworks, as the over is 3-2 in the Rockets’ last 5 meetings against the Warriors. With both teams leaning into their transition games, expect a back-and-forth track meet that cruises past the total with relative ease.
Final score projection: HOUSTON ROCKETS 114, GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS 110.
Thursday NBA Best Bets March 5
