Lions vs. Chiefs O/U Prediction

The total for Thursday night’s Week 1 Opening Night matchup between the Lions and Chiefs sits at 53 points. Is that number too high for teams that are largely unfamiliar with one another?

Detroit Lions DFS Spin

Lions CB Emmanuel Moseley (knee) will not play in Week 1 against the Chiefs. Moseley is still working his way back from the torn ACL he suffered in Week 5 last year. He appears to be close to a return but will get at least one more week to return to full strength. He is the only Lions with an injury designation heading into their opener versus the Chiefs.

Kansas City Chiefs DFS Spin

Kadarius Toney (knee) was removed from the Week 1 injury report and will play against the Lions. Toney, infamous for his propensity to get injured, somehow exits the offseason with a full practice to close the week. He went down with the knee injury early in training camp and was initially believed to be at risk of missing Week 1. He will now suit up and may be asked to do more than usual with Travis Kelce hampered by a knee injury of his own. Toney is a high-risk, high-reward FLEX play for the Chiefs’ opener versus Detroit.

Lions vs. Chiefs Prediction:

Give me the over tonight at Arrowhead. I think this game will start out slow, with both teams either settling for field goals or having their first couple drives stall while figuring out each other’s game plans. But eventually, without Chris Jones to contend with in the middle of Kansas City’s defensive line, the Lions will start to turn it up offensively. As well as Jones, the Chiefs could also be without Travis Kelce (knee injury), which would certainly hamper Kansas City’s scoring ability. That said, with Patrick Mahomes at the controls and Andy Reid resuming play-calling duties, the Chiefs will still dial up plenty of scores to help push the final score over the total.
