Kansas State Wildcats Game Notes
Adrian Martinez completed 21 of 31 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 59 yards on 13 carries in Saturday’s 17-10 loss to Tulane. Martinez is averaging 22 passing and 13 rushing attempts per game which are plenty, but the results have not yet come as Kansas State has struggled to convert on third-down and put points on the scoreboard. This resulted in a huge upset loss to Tulane. Kansas State continues to search for their offensive identity outside of star running back Deuce Vaughn. They’ll look to get back on track against a great Oklahoma squad next week.
Oklahoma Sooners Game Notes
Dillon Gabriel completed 16 of 27 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns while scrambling for 55 yards and a score on six carries in Saturday’s 49-14 win at Nebraska. Gabriel has been as good as advertised while notching three touchdowns in each of the Sooners’ first three games. Against the Cornhuskers, he even posted a career-long 61-yard touchdown run on a quarterback draw play. Moreover, the star quarterback has not committed any turnovers and has Oklahoma looking like the best team in the conference. They’ll start their conference campaign when hosting Kansas State next week.
