Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said Irv Smith wasn’t involved in the team’s offense in Week 1 by design. Smith split snaps and pass routes with Johnny Mundt against the Packers. He caught neither of his two targets from Kirk Cousins. O’Connell said Smith will have big outings in 2022, if and when the game plan includes the tight end running more routes. This makes it nearly impossible to predict Smith’s usage, making him a streaming option in 12-team leagues. Managers should feel free to cut Smith headed into Week 2.

Philadelphia Eagles DFS Spin

Jalen Hurts completed 18-of-32 attempts for 243 yards in the Eagles’ 38-35, Week 1 win over the Lions, adding 17 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown. Hurts looked shaky to start the game, going 0-of-5 on the first drive. Scrambling for yards on the ground was the only way Philly moved the ball. On the second drive, Hurts locked in on A.J. Brown and looked far more comfortable. The drive ended with a designed run for Hurts that he punched into the end zone. Hurts took off from the pocket frequently but was impossible to bring down for sacks. The Detroit front got him down behind the line of scrimmage just once. Hurts still has some work to do as a passer, but the impact of adding Brown to the lineup can’t be understated. Add in a heavy dose of rushing production and Hurts is a locked-in QB1 for his Week 2 matchup with the Vikings.
