Florida State Seminoles Game Notes

Florida State redshirt senior C Kayden Lyles (undisclosed) will miss the 2022 season with an injury. The exact nature of Lyles’ (6’3/323) is unknown, but he reportedly suffered during last week’s practice. In a statement released through FSU, Lyles said, “I know all too well that injuries are a part of playing football at the highest level. Unfortunately, I will not be able to be on the field this season, but I came to Florida State to make an impact on this program and that is what I will do.” Redshirt sophomore Maurice Smith started eight games for the Noles last season, and was already listed as the starter on the team’s depth chart.

LSU Tigers Game Notes

LSU sophomore QB Garrett Nussmeier (ankle) was limited in practice the past two days. Nussmeier (6’2/190) suffered the injury sometime this week and is not as bad as initially feared. The Athletic’s Brody Miller reports that he could even return in the next couple of days, which would be a best case scenario. He completed 29-of-57 passes for 329 yards and a two-to-two ratio in relief of 2021 starter Max Johnson who is now at Texas A&M. Jayden Daniels and Myles Brennan both saw increased reps with Daniels taking the majority of starter snaps in Nussmeier’s absence. Despite the setback, the sophomore signal caller is still very much in play to start Week 1 against Florida State.
