New York Mets Fantasy Spin
Jeff McNeil went 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored to spearhead an 11-8 triumph over the Nationals on Saturday. He ripped an RBI-triple to plate Wilson Ramos in the first inning, then drove in Michael Conforto with a double in the ninth. McNeil started in left field in this game after starting at third base on Opening Day. He is expected to get most of his playing time in the outfield after Todd Frazier (oblique) and Jed Lowrie (knee) return from the injured list but his defensive versatility will be a boon both for the Mets and his fantasy owners.
Washington Nationals Fantasy Spin
Juan Soto went 3-for-5 with a run scored, two RBI and a stolen base during a loss to the Mets on Saturday. All three hits were sharply-struck singles, two of which were of the run-scoring variety. Base-stealing is not a big part of his game but he was able to swipe a bag with ease today. He stole just five bases in 116 games last year as a rookie and had only nine steals in his minor league career. The 20-year-old is a prodigy with the bat and should be one of the most complete hitters in the league for the next decade.

Zack Wheeler has been plagued by injuries throughout his career and wasn’t sharp this spring, posting a 4.80 ERA in five starts. On the other side is Patrick Corbin, who makes his debut with the Nationals after an outstanding 2018 campaign with the Diamondbacks. He allowed 15 runs in 24 innings this spring, however, and owns a 4.80 ERA in three career starts at Nationals Park. Granted, that’s a small sample size but given how the Mets just racked up 11 runs on Saturday, I see this being a sneaky over play.
