Pearce leads Red Sox to win

Steve Pearce finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs Tuesday night to pace Boston in a 5-1 victory at the Braves. Mookie Betts walked twice in five plate appearances, stealing a base and scoring once. Ian Kinsler went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run. Xander Bogaerts ended the night 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Jackie Bradley Jr. finished 1-for-4 with a double and a walk. Rick Porcello earned the win as he surrendered one earned run on two hits with five strikeouts and a walk over five innings.

Suzuki homers for lone run

Atlanta catcher Kurt Suzuki provided the only offense for the hosts yesterday as he went 2-for-3 with a solo home run plus a double. Nick Markakis was 1-for-3 with a walk, while Freddie Freeman was 1-for-4. Sean Newcomb suffered the loss as he gave up three earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and five walks over 4 1/3 innings.

Hector Velazquez (7-2, 3.24 ERA) will draw the start today for Boston, while the Braves turn to Mike Foltynewicz (10-9, 2.80).

MLB Betting Trends

Boston

The Red Sox are 23-5 in their last 28 Wednesday games. Boston is 46-13 in its last 59 interleague games.

Atlanta

The under is 8-1 in the last nine Braves games following a loss. Atlanta is 9-27 in the last 36 meetings.

Prediction:

Boston keeps rolling along and now face an All-Star pitcher in Foltynewicz in the finale. But with the surprising season of Velazquez, he should be able to keep the Red Sox in the game against an offense that has struggled as of late. If anyone can get to Foltynewicz, it’s this Boston offense. I’m going with the Red Sox to complete the sweep today.
