Rangers vs. Twins Pick

Will the Minnesota Twins get back on track when they return home to face the Texas Rangers tonight at 8:10PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Twins are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -130 to win, while the Rangers are getting a money line of +120 to prevail. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 10 runs. Minnesota has won two of three meetings with the Rangers this season.

Tonight’s pitching matchup has A.J. Griffin (4-2, 5.77 ERA) on the mound for the Rangers to face Adalberto Mejia (4-4, 4.07) of the Twins. Griffin is making his first start since May 26 because of a muscle strain. He has started eight games this year, posting 35 strikeouts with 12 walks and a 1.28 WHIP. Mejia has been on a nice run, allowing just four earned runs total in his last three starts. He has 65 strikeouts with 36 walks and a 1.48 WHIP this season.

The Rangers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 5-1 win over the Mariners. Texas is now 51-56 on the season and 23-30 on the road. The Rangers are averaging 4.93 runs per contest this year while giving up 4.93 runs per game as well. Texas is being led by Elvis Andrus, who has 26 doubles with 15 home runs, 20 stolen bases and 59 RBI. Joey Gallo is adding 28 home runs and 52 RBI despite hitting just .203.

The Twins put an end to a three-game losing streak with a 5-2 win over the Padres on Wednesday. Minnesota is now 51-54 on the season and 23-31 at home. The Twins are putting up 4.54 runs per game this year while allowing 5.19 per contest. Miguel Sano is leading the team with 25 home runs and 71 RBI while Brian Dozier has 21 doubles, 17 home runs and 52 RBI.

Bet on Rangers vs. Twins

I don’t typically like going with a pitcher that’s coming off a long injury, especially when that pitcher was struggling a lot before the injury as is. Griffin is going on the road and is likely to be rusty. Mejia has been putting some good starts out there as he is working toward a sub-4.00 ERA. I think he leads the Twins tonight with another strong outing to get his team a win.
