White Sox vs. Red Sox Pick
Can the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox find a way to get more than 10 runs when they meet up tonight at 7:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Boston is favored at home tonight, as the Red Sox are getting odds of -240 to win, while the White Sox are getting a money line of +215 to prevail. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 10 runs. Boston has won two of three meetings with the Sox this season and the two hit the under in two of those three meetings.

The pitching matchup tonight has Miguel Gonzalez (5-9, 4.59 ERA) on the mound for the White Sox to face Rick Porcello (4-14, 4.55) of the Red Sox. Gonzalez has been pretty good as of late, allowing just five earned runs total over his last three starts. Gonzalez has 57 strikeouts with 37 walks and a 1.50 WHIP. Porcello has managed to get through at least six innings in his last 10 starts despite his higher ERA. He has 126 strikeouts with 26 walks on the year and a 1.38 WHIP.
Chicago has lost its last two coming into this series. The White Sox haven’t been winning much as of late. The White Sox are now 41-64 overall and 20-35 on the road. Chicago is averaging just 4.32 runs per game while giving up 5.03 per contest. The Sox are being led by Jose Abreu, who has 19 home runs, 30 doubles and 68 RBI. Matt Davidson is adding 22 home runs with 51 RBI.
Boston comes in having won two straight over Cleveland and four of its last six overall. The Red Sox are now 59-49 overall and 32-20 at home. Boston is averaging 4.73 runs per game this season while allowing 4.12 runs per game. Leading the Red Sox this year is Mookie Betts, who has 31 doubles with 17 home runs and 67 RBI. Dustin Pedroia is adding 17 doubles and 54 RBI.
Gonzalez has been pitching better of late and Porcello has done a good job of getting deep into games while trying to limit the damage. I think getting to 10 runs today will be difficult. Chicago doesn’t have much of a lineup right due to trades and injuries. Porcello should be able to improve his numbers on that. Boston could light up Gonzalez, but I think it will be tough for them to carry the total too much.
