Rockies vs. Nationals Prediction

Will the Rockies beat the Nationals tonight at 7:05PM ET in the second game of a double-header?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Rockies are -115 money line favorites to knock off the Nationals, who have odds of +105 to pull off the upset at home. With Jon Gray set to face Edwin Jackson in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 9.5 runs.

From Rotoworld: Gray allowed just two runs but lasted only five frames on Tuesday in a no-decision versus the Cardinals. Gray was taken deep by Paul DeJong with a two-run blast in the first inning. He was able to keep the Cards off the scoreboard from there on out, but it wasn’t easy with eight hits allowed over five frames. Gray did punch out six batters. The young righty was superb in his first start back from the disabled list but hasn’t been great since.

Jackson was charged with seven runs – three earned – over five innings of work and served up three homers in Tuesday’s loss to the Brewers. A throwing error by Ryan Zimmerman in the fourth inning helped open the door to four runs, which makes Jackson’s ERA look not quite as bad but certainly doesn’t change the fact that he didn’t pitch well. He did hold his own in his first outing with the Nationals and might get another start, but they’ll boot him from the rotation as soon as they fine a replacement.

Bet Today’s Rockies vs. Nationals Game

OUR PREDICTION: Not including Game 1 of this series, which will be played Sunday afternoon, the Rockies are 4-1 in their last five games in D.C. They’re also 9-3 in their lat 12 games on Sunday and are facing a pitcher in Jackson who allowed seven runs in only five innings of work. Besides, given the Nationals’ struggles in the bullpen, the Rockies are a good play at a great price.
