Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have Chubb listed among the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy this season. Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott has the best odds at 6/1 while TCU signal-caller Trevone Boykin is 7/1. Chubb respectively shares the same 8/1 odds as LSU running back Leonard Fournette, while Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott is 10/1.

As a true freshman last year, Chubb was forced into a starting role for the Bulldogs when starter Todd Gurley was sidelined following a suspension and then an ACL tear. Chubb rushed for 14 touchdowns and 1,547 yards, which were second to Auburn’s Cameron Artis-Payne (1,608) in the SEC.

The consensus is that Elliott is the best back in the country but consider Chubb rushed for over 1,500 yards last year without receiving starters’ carries until Week 6, there’s an argument to be made for either back. It’ll be interesting to see what Chubb accomplishes with a full workload under new OC Brian Schottenheimer.
