Problems in Mavs’ locker room?
DALLAS, TX (TheSpread) – Are there problems in the Dallas Mavericks’ locker room? Something definitely showed on Tuesday night between Rajon Rondo and Rick Carlisle.
During Tuesday night’s 99-92 win for the Mavericks over the Toronto Raptors, Rondo got into a shouting match with the Dallas head coach and he then found himself benched for the rest of the game, over 20 minutes of play. The argument apparently stemmed from Rondo ignoring a play call by the Dallas coaches. Rondo deflected questions after the game, but Carlisle addressed it briefly.
“Well, it’s an emotional game, and we had a difference of opinion,” Carlisle said. “There was an exchange, and then in my mind, it was over.”
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Mavericks are currently listed with 16/1 odds to win the NBA Finals. The Golden State Warriors are the favorites with 13/4 odds while the Cleveland Cavaliers have 15/4 odds.
Rondo was traded to the Mavericks in the middle of the season from Boston. He is averaging 9.0 points, 6.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game since joining the team. Dallas is currently 39-20 on the season and 7.5 games behind Golden State for the top spot in the West. The Mavericks have the fourth-best record in the West but are currently slotted in the fifth spot if the playoffs started today.
