After losing 45-21 to Georgia in their opener, the Tigers bounced back on September 6 with a 73-7 victory over South Carolina State. Clemson tallied 32 first downs in the victory and racked up 735 yards of total offense, which was good for the third-most in school history. Quarterback Cole Stoudt completed 22-of-31 passes for 302 yards and a touchdown, while Wayne Gallman and Adam Choice combined for 181 yards rushing on 22 combined carries.
Florida State improved to 2-0 with a 37-12 victory over Citadel on September 6. Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston completed 22-of-27 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns in the victory as 10 different Seminoles caught passes throughout the game. Seven different players also combined to rush for 210 yards as FSU remained No. 1 in the polls for the third straight week. Winston, however, has been suspended for the game tonight after he stood on a table at the school’s student union and shouted a sexually-explicit obscenity.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Florida State is a 14.5-point favorite over Clemson while the total is currently sitting at 57.5 points. The Seminoles opened as 22-point favorites but Winston’s suspension has caused the line to drop significantly. The total also went from 66 down to its current number of 57.5.
