Alabama met a West Virginia team that wasn’t as bad as its record last year indicated. The Mountaineers had good speed and picked up 393 yards of offense in the game, but Bama held WVU to just 28 rushing yards. On the other side, Alabama totaled 538 yards of offense, with 288 yards coming on the ground. T.J. Yeldon rushed for 126 yards and two scores while Derrick Henry had 113 yards and one score. New quarterback Blake Sims was 24 of 33 passing for 250 yards. Sims had one interception with no touchdown passes.
There wasn’t much good to come out of last week’s loss to Nebraska for FAU. The Owls amassed just 200 total yards of offense while giving up 784 yards to Nebraska, including a whopping 498 rushing yards. The Owls used two quarterbacks in Jaquez Johnson and Greg Hankerson, who combined to go 11 of 30 for 95 yards. Jay Warren led the FAU offense with 77 rushing yards on 14 carries.
