Connecticut is coming off a 3-9 record in 2013. The Huskies have turned the program over to Bob Diaco from Notre Dame. The Cougars went 8-5 last season, with four of the five losses coming by 10 points or less.

The over/under total for the game has been set at 50 points (View Matchup). The opening odds for this game had BYU as a 17-point favorite, but the spread quickly dipped to 16.5 points. The over/under total opened at 50 points and climbed to a peak of 51 before falling back to its opening mark.
BYU has a veteran offense to work with this season, led by quarterback Taysom Hill, who threw for 2,938 yards and 19 touchdowns while rushing for 1,344 yards last year. The Cougars are sitting running back Jamaal Williams, as he is serving a suspension, but a veteran line should allow BYU to move the ball efficiently. On defense, the Cougars have suspended both starting cornerbacks, which could lead to some issues, but BYU has always been a physical defense.
Connecticut has named sophomore Casey Cochran its starting quarterback. He saw some action last year, throwing for 1,293 yards with 11 touchdowns and four INTs. He has a strong receiving target in Geremy Davis, who had 71 catches for 1,085 yards a year ago. An issue for the Huskies will be up front, where the team is replacing four starters against a physical BYU program. On defense for Connecticut, it has to greatly improve on the 30.3 points allowed per game last year. The Huskies don’t return a lot of notable talent, as the leading returning sack man is Reuben Frank, who had just two.

In terms of Injuries, BYU linebacker Alani Fua is questionable with a hip injury while receiver Nick Kurtz is out with a foot issue. Connecticut offensive lineman Andreas Knappe is doubtful for the game with a knee injury.
