The Seminoles are coming off a 14-0 season, winning the final BCS Championship Game. Oklahoma State went 10-3 last season and 7-2 in the Big 12, but lose its final two games of the season. These two teams haven’t met since 1985.
Trends show that Florida State is 12-3-1 against the spread in its last 16 neutral-site games and 5-1 ATS in its last 6 non-conference contests. Oklahoma State has hit the under in its last four games in August.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Florida State is the clear favorite in this one, as the Seminoles have odds of -17.5 points against the Cowboys. The over/under total for the game has been set at 63 points (View Matchup). The opening odds for this game had Florida State favored by 17.5 as well. The spread climbed to 18 points for a short time before moving back to 17.5. The over/under total opened at 63.5 points but then dropped the hook.
Florida State brings in one of the top offenses in the country this season. The Seminoles averaged 51.6 points and 519.1 yards per game last season and have Jameis Winston back to lead this year’s unit. FSU also has four starters back up front along with dynamic receiver Rashad Greene at receiver. Winston threw for 4,057 yards, 1,128 of which went to Greene in 2013. Defensively, FSU had one of the best in the nation as well last year, allowing just 12.1 points and 281.4 yards per game. The Seminoles lost some strong talent on the front line, but will have a veteran secondary.
Oklahoma State hasn’t had much issue scoring points. The Cowboys averaged 39.1 points per game last year and will turn the ball over to J.W. Walsh at quarterback this season. Walsh saw some action last season and threw for nine touchdowns with five interceptions. A key for the Cowboys will be up front, where they have just two starters back on the line. Defensively, Oklahoma State was strong in 2013 for a Big 12 team, allowing just 21.6 points per game. Only four starters are back this year, which could lead to problems against FSU. The Cowboys will have three new starters in the secondary, including two sophomores at safety.

In terms of Injuries, Florida State linebacker Delvin Purifoy (ankle) and linebacker Ukeme Eligwe (foot) are both out. Oklahoma State has no injuries to report.
