Alabama should be plenty motivated for this game considering it lost its last two games of the 2013 season. The offense has questions in replacing the quarterback position, but T.J. Yeldon is back after rushing for 1,235 yards and 14 touchdowns a year ago. Defensively, the Tide return just three starters, but depth has always been a strength for the team. Safety Landon Collins may be the leader of the unit. He had 70 tackles and two interceptions as a sophomore.
West Virginia is looking for a turnaround this season and will hope to do so behind a veteran starting lineup. The Mountaineers have six starters back on offense led by quarterback Clint Trickett, who needs to improve on his 1-1 TD/INT ratio from last season. The Mountaineers will also look to improve their run game, which was 82nd nationally a year ago, much lower than WVU is used to. Defensively, WVU allowed 33.3 points and 455 yards per game in 2013, both were near the bottom in the country. The Mountaineers should be stronger this year, especially at linebacker where four starters return, including Nick Kwiatoski, who had 86 tackles and three interceptions a year ago. The key for the defense will be on the line, where it is replacing all three starters.

In terms of Injuries, Alabama offensive lineman Leon Brown (foot) and defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson (knee) are both questionable for Saturday’s game. West Virginia cornerback Ishmael Banks is out with a suspension while linebacker Jared Barber (knee) is out indefinitely.
