UFC 166 will take place from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas with the main card bouts airing live on PPV at 10PM ET.
The main event of Saturday’s card is a bout for the UFC Heavyweight Championship as Cain Velasquez (12-1) defends his title against Junior Dos Santos (16-2). According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Velasquez is the favorite to retain his title, as he has odds of -205 to win, while Dos Santos has been given a money line of +165 to prevail. This is the third fight between these two. The first came in 2011 with Dos Santos scoring a first-round KO victory. The rematch took place last December, with Velasquez dominating Dos Santos for five rounds to get a decision victory. If this fight goes the distance, it favors Velasquez. If the fight ends quickly, Dos Santos likely gets the KO.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card is also a heavyweight clash as top contender Daniel Cormier (12-0) takes on Roy Nelson (19-8). According to oddsmakers, Cormier is the clear favorite, as he has odds of -600 to win, while Nelson has a money line of +400 to prevail. Cormier is a wrestler that has dominated in the cage, beating the likes of Antonio Silva, Josh Barnett and Frank Mir. A win on Saturday may make him the No. 1 contender for the title. Nelson is coming off a loss to Stipe Miocic, which snapped a three-fight win streak of first round KOs. Nelson has big power, but has struggled against superior grapplers and doesn’t have much of a gas tank to go 15 minutes.
