UFC 154 will take place from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada with the main card bouts airing live on PPV at 10PM ET.
The main event of Saturday’s card is a UFC Welterweight Championship bout with the champion Georges St. Pierre (22-2) taking on interim champion Carlos Condit (28-5). According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, St. Pierre is the favorite to retain his title, as he has odds of -345 to win, while Condit has a money line of +275 to win. St. Pierre hasn’t competed since April of 2011, as he suffered a torn ACL during training for a fight with Condit late last year. During his recovery, Condit won the interim title to force a unification bout this Saturday. St. Pierre has not lost since April of 2007 while Condit has won five straight bouts. Both fighters have good all around skill. Condit has more power in his striking and is the longer fighter, while St. Pierre is the stronger grappler and more technical with his approach. The big key to this fight will be how St. Pierre deals with not having competed in well over a year and whether he will have the same cardio that he has had in previous bouts.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card is also a welterweight bout with Johny Hendricks (13-1) and Martin Kampmann (20-5) competing to be the No. 1 contender in the division. According to oddsmakers, Hendricks is the slight favorite to win, as he has odds of -145 to win, while Kampmann has a money line of +115 to win. Hendricks has won four straight coming into this bout while Kampmann has won three straight. Hendricks comes into the fight as the explosive striker with one-punch power and a wrestling base. Kampmann is more technical with his striking and a solid submission grappler. Hendricks is the favorite to win if the fight doesn’t last long, but the longer the fight goes, the better chances Kampmann has to win.
