UFC on FX 3 will take place from the Bank Atlantic Center with the main card bouts airing live on FX at 9PM ET. The undercard will air live on Fuel TV prior to the main card.
The main event of Friday’s card is a flyweight bout between Ian McCall (11-2-1) and Demetrious Johnson (14-2-1). These two met back on March 3 in a three round contest that was originally scored for Johnson. But, after further review of the scorecards, the fight was actually a draw. That original bout was actually a semifinal of a Flyweight Tournament for the UFC, so this bout will determine who contends for the title against Joseph Benavidez. This fight will be five rounds instead of three like the first meeting. According to oddsmakers, Johnson is the slight favorite to win, as he has a money line of -145, while McCall has odds of +115 to prevail. These two are pretty evenly matched. Johnson has a slight speed and wrestling edge while McCall has the striking advantage. Conditioning will play a big role in this contest.
The co-main event for this card is a bantamweight contest between Eddie Wineland (18-8-1) and Scott Jorgensen (13-5). According to oddsmakers, Jorgensen is the favorite in this bout, as he has odds of -220 to win, while Wineland has been given a money line of +180 to prevail. Both men are well-rounded fighters. Wineland is the better striker of the two but Jorgensen is the better grappler. Jorgensen has the edge in the eyes of the oddsmakers due to more success in the UFC/WEC and he likely has a little better conditioning than Wineland. Expect this fight to go the distance no matter who wins.
