2011 College Basketball Washington State vs. Gonzaga Picks & Prediction

Washington State vs. Gonzaga Pick

SPOKANE, WA (The Spread) – Will Washington State pull off the upset tonight versus No. 23 Gonzaga at 12:00AM ET on ESPN?

ODDS: Oddsmakers have installed Gonzaga as a 12-point favorite over Washington State for tonight’s game, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 139.5 points. This the Cougars’ opening game of 2011 while the Bulldogs are currently sitting at 1-0 after defeating Eastern Washington 77-69 last Friday.

LINE MOVEMENT: Mark Few’s Bulldogs opened as 10-point favorites at most books but the line shot up almost immediately after it opened. After climbing to 11 points this morning, the spread is now 12.5 at most books. The over/under total, however, has stayed steady at 139.5.

PUBLIC BETTING: Of the 400-plus wagers placed on tonight’s game, 77% of college basketball public bettors currently favor the Bulldogs. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most up-to-date public betting numbers.

FREE PICK: Take Washington State. Gonzaga needed a second-half comeback to knock off Eastern Washington in its opener. Trailing with under seven minutes to play, the Bulldogs were able to get on a 13-4 run to win, 77-69. That victory shouldn’t instill a ton of confidence in Gonzaga tonight, especially considering Washington State routed the Bulldogs 81-59 last season. The Cougars lost star guard Klay Thompson to the NBA draft but still return three starters in guards Reggie Moore, Marcus Capers and forward Abe Lodwick.  According to latest college basketball trends, the Cougars are 4-1 against the spread in their last five meetings between the Bulldogs, so expect Washington State to keep the game somewhat close.

MONDAY COLLEGE BASKETBALL FREE PICK: WASHINGTON STATE +12.5
