Tigers vs. Rangers Game 6 Odds
(The Spread) – The ALCS shifts back to Texas tonight as the Rangers look to close out the Tigers at 8:05PM ET.
The Tigers were able to extend the best-of-seven American League Championship Series with a 7-5 win over the Rangers on Thursday. Detroit got four runs in the sixth and then had to hold off Texas as the Rangers scored three runs in the eighth and ninth innings combined. Justin Verlander threw 133 pitches over 7.1 innings but picked up the win while striking out eight.
Now the action shifts back to Texas where the Rangers took Games 1 and 2 earlier in the series. Nelson Cruz has been a major thorn in Detroit’s side, as he’s 6-for-18 with a whopping five home runs in five games. He has almost single-handedly eliminated the Tigers with his bat.
Oddsmakers have installed the Rangers as –144 money line favorites for Saturday night’s game, while the visiting Tigers are +136 on the ML. The over/under total for tonight’s game is currently sitting at 9 runs as Max Scherzer will oppose Derek Holland in this Game 6 pitching matchup.
According to latest MLB trends, the Tigers are 4-1 in Scherzer’s last five starts versus the Rangers, but Detroit is just 2-5 in its last seven road games against Texas. One more loss and the Tigers will be watching the Rangers play either the Brewers or Cardinals in the World Series so it’s another must-win game for Detroit.
