Monday MLB Playoff Odds
(The Spread) – While rain continues to cast a cloud over the ALCS, the NLCS looks to provide the 2011 MLB Playoffs with more fireworks.
The Milwaukee Brewers collected 11 hits in their 9-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 1 of the NLCS on Sunday evening. The surprising Cards actually built a 4-2 lead thanks to David Freese’s three-run home run in the fourth, but the Brewers exploded for six runs in the fifth and never looked back.
Milwaukee now hopes to build a 2-0 lead with a victory on Monday night at 8:05PM ET. Edwin Jackson will take the mound for the Cardinals, who are +127 on the money line, while Shawn Marcum will start for a Milwaukee team that is –135 money line favorites
In the ALCS, the Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers were rained out on Sunday night after suffering through some bad rain on Saturday as well. Texas is up 1-0 in the series and is a –142 money line favorite for Game 2 tonight. Detroit is +134 on the ML and will throw Max Scherzer against Derek Holland.
According to latest MLB trends, the Tigers are 4-0 in Scherzer’s last four starts against the Rangers while the over is 8-2-2 in the last 12 meetings between these two teams in Texas. Detroit is also 6-1 in Scherzer’s last six starts overall and 8-1 in his last nine starts against the AL West.
