2011 College Football Week 6 Free Picks

(The Spread) – Check out our top four picks for Week 6 in college football.

We split for the third straight week with another 2-2 Saturday. Stanford and Kansas State covered but Mississippi State and Nebraska both failed to do so on the road. That puts us at 12-8 on the season.

Connecticut @ West Virginia, 12:00PM ET

The Huskies are 5-0 against the spread in their last five conference games and 21-7 ATS in their last 28 games following an ATS loss. They’re also 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games as an underdog and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 October games. Meanwhile, West Virginia is just 1-4-1 ATS in its last six home games and 2-9-1 ATS in its last 12 games as a home favorite of 10.5 points or greater. The Huskies have led during the fourth quarter in each of their last three losses but if they’re leading in this one, a cover is likely to follow.

Florida State @ Wake Forest, 12:30PM ET

According to latest college football trends, the underdog is 6-1 against the spread in the last seven meetings between these two teams while Florida State is just 2-5 ATS in its last six road games against Wake Forest. The Seminoles are also 1-6 against the number in their last seven conference games while the Demon Deacons are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games as a home underdog. This is a banged up FSU squad that has had major issues running the ball this season. Look for Wake Forest to keep the game close throughout.

Vanderbilt @ Alabama, 7:00PM ET

‘Bama is 5-1 against the spread in its last six games as a favorite and 5-1 ATS in its last six games overall. The Crimson Tide are also 10-3 ATS in their last 13 home games and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games as a home favorite. Meanwhile, the Commodores are just 1-7 ATS in their last eight conference games and 1-8 ATS in their last nine games as an underdog. Vandy is also 0-5 ATS in its last five games as a road dog and just 1-6 ATS versus a team with a winning record. The Tide have too much firepower for an improving, but still overmatched Commodore defense.
