Sunday MLB Playoff Odds
(The Spread) – The Yankees, Brewers and Phillies will try to extend their respective leads when the 2011 MLB Playoffs continue on Sunday.
The Tigers and Yankees picked up Saturday where they left off when rain suspended Game 1 on Friday night, and it wasn’t pretty for Detroit. Robinson Cano hit a grand slam as the Yankees went on to beat the Tigers, 9-3. Game 2 will be this afternoon at 3:00PM ET when Max Scherzer takes on Freddy Garcia.
Oddsmakers have yet to release the odds for Game 2, although according to latest MLB trends the Tigers are 4-1 in Scherzer’s last five starts and 5-0 in his last five outings during Game 2 of a series. Meanwhile, the Yankees are 6-0 in Garcia’s last six home starts and 4-1 in his last five starts overall.
Meanwhile in the National League, the Brewers took a 1-0 series lead on the Diamondbacks with a 4-1 victory on Saturday. Milwaukee will host Arizona in Game 2 at 5:00PM ET this evening, as Zach Greinke will battle Daniel Hudson. Oddsmakers have installed the host Brewers as –154 money line favorites over the Diamondbacks, who are +145 on the ML.
In the other National League Divisional Series, the Phillies look to go up 2-0 on the Cardinals after beating St. Louis 11-6 on Saturday. The Cards took a 3-0 lead in the first inning when Lance Berkman hit a three-run dinger, but Philadelphia’s bats came alive in the later innings and Roy Halladay eventually set down the final 21 batters he faced. The Phillies are –175 money line favorites tonight at 8:30PM ET when Cliff Lee takes the mound against St. Louis’ (+164) Chris Carpenter.
