Monday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – Rivals square off in the AL Central and NL West when baseball rolls into a new week.
American League Central rivals clash in Chicago tonight when the White Sox host the Tigers at 8:10PM ET. Oddsmakers have made visiting Detroit +120 money line underdogs while Chicago is –130 on the ML. The White Sox are 1-4 in John Danks’ last five starts versus the Tigers, who are 16-5 in their last 21 meetings with Chicago.
In the AL West, the A’s are –145 money line favorites versus the Angels, who are +135 on the ML. The Angels are 1-4 in their last five games versus the A’s and 1-5 in their last six road games versus Oakland. The over is also 4-1 in Gio Gonzalez’s last five starts versus Los Angeles.
In the NL West, the Dodgers host the Diamondbacks at 10:10PM ET. Despite their recent success, the D-Backs are +125 money line underdogs versus L.A., which is –135 on the ML. According to latest MLB trends, Arizona is 4-1 in its last five road games against the Dodgers but 1-4 in Joe Saunders’ last five starts versus L.A.
Staying in the NL West, the Giants are –145 money line favorites versus the Padres despite the fact that they continue to fade in the division race with Arizona. The Padres are 12-5 in their last 17 road games versus San Francisco but 3-8 in their last 11 games overall versus the Giants. The over is also 11-3 in the last 14 games between these two teams.
