Saturday MLB Opening Odds

Oddsmakers have made the Boston Red Sox –265 money line favorites versus the Oakland A’s (+246) today at Noon ET. Jon Lester will take the hill for Boston, which is 22-3 in his last 25 starts as a favorite of –201 or greater and 20-3 in his last 23 starts as a home favorite of –201 or greater.
The AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers will be in Minnesota today at 4:10PM ET to take on the Twins, who will start Carl Pavano against ace Justin Verlander. The Tigers are 8-1-2 in Verlander’s last 11 starts versus the Twins and 14-3 in their last 17 meetings with Minnesota.
In the National League, the Arizona Diamondbacks look to push their current winning streak to five games when they host the last place San Diego Padres again at 8:10PM ET. The D-Backs are –146 money line favorites versus the Padres, who are +137 on the ML. Arizona is 7-0 in its last seven games as a home favorite and 7-0 in its last seven home games overall.
NL Central rivals will square off in Milwaukee when the Brewers host the Cubs at 7:10PM ET. According to latest MLB trends, the Cubs are 7-2 in Ryan Dempster’s last nine starts versus the Brewers, who are 4-0 in Yovani Gallardo’s last four home starts against Chicago.
