According to oddsmakers from Bodog, the Huskies are the favorites to win the MAC title in 2011 with 2/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Temple (5/2), Miami (Ohio) (3/1), and Toledo (7/2).

Since the MAC began playing a championship game in 1997, NIU has never won the conference title. The Huskies lost to Miami last season in a bit of an upset. NIU went 11-3 in 2010 with an 8-1 conference record. The Huskies lost coach Jerry Kill to Minnesota and Dave Doeren will take over in his first head coaching role. NIU returns just 10 starters from last season.

Temple has never appeared in the MAC title game. The Owls were 8-4 last season and 5-3 in the MAC. The Owls also lost their coach, as Al Golden left for the Miami Hurricanes. Steve Addazio is taking over the program in his first head coaching role. He returns 12 starters from last season.

Miami is the defending MAC champion. The RedHawks were 10-4 last season with an 8-1 conference record. Miami also has a new head coach as Mike Haywood left to take the job at Pittsburgh and was abruptly fired soon after being hired. Don Treadwell takes over the Miami program and he is also making his first head coaching appearance. The RedHawks have 18 starters back this season.

Toledo has won the MAC Championship game two times. The last title came in 2004. The Rockets were 8-5 last season and 7-1 in MAC play. Toledo returns 19 starters this season, including receiver Eric Page, who caught 99 passes for 1,105 yards and eight touchdowns. He also had three kick returns for scores.
