(The Spread) – The odds are out for the 2011 MLB All-Star Game and oddsmakers currently favor the National League.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog currently list the National League as –122 money line favorites over the visiting American League, which is +102 on the ML. The over/under total for Tuesday night’s game is 8.5 runs.
The National League is coming off a 3-1 victory over the American League in 2010 and now owns a 41-38-2 advantage in all MLB All-Star Games. That said, the victory last year was the first for the National League in 13 tries. Before 2010, you’d have to go all the way back to 1996 for the last time the National League won an All-Star Game.
The two sides did tie in 2002, which caused quite a bit of controversy and spurned the idea that the game should have more meaning. Thus, whichever team wins on Tuesday night will be the host in the 2011 World Series. As previously mentioned, the National League won last year so the San Francisco Giants hosted the Texas Rangers in last year’s Fall Classic.
The American League fell as –120 money line favorites last year, while the combined score fell under the over/under total of 8.5 runs. In fact, the combined average score over the last 10 years is 8.9, so oddsmakers have no problem keeping the total at 8.5 runs for tomorrow night’s game.
The 2011 MLB All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. It’ll be the first MLB All-Star Game to be held in Arizona and the first in a National League Park to have a designated hitter. Bruce Bochy of the Giants will manage the NL and Ron Washington of the Rangers will be the AL’s skipper. FOX has the broadcast, while Joe Buck and Tim McCarver will be the TV announcers. Jered Weaver will start for the American League but Bochy has yet to pick his starter for the National League.
