2011 Home Run Derby Odds
(The Spread) – The 2011 MLB Home Run Derby odds are out and there’s no surprise who’s favored to win.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made Toronto Blue Jays’ star Jose Bautista a 3/1 favorite to win this year’s Home Run Derby. He leads all players with 28 home runs on the year, producing three more jacks than Yankees’ first baseman Mark Teixeira and outfielder Curtis Granderson.
Prince Fielder and David Ortiz have the next best odds to win at 7/2, respectively. Fielder is second in the National League behind Lance Berkman for most home runs. He has 22 on the year, while the Cardinals’ outfielder/first baseman has hit one more at 23. Big Papi has 17 longballs on the season, ranking him 8th in the AL in that category.
Cardinals’ outfielder Matt Holliday is 4/1 to win this year’s Home Run Derby, while Adrian Gonzalez and Matt Kemp are 7/1, respectively. Robinson Cano is 15/2 and Rickie Weeks is your official long shot at 12/1.
Ortiz and Fielder are the only two participants in this year’s Derby that have won before. Fielder smacked 23 home runs in the 2009 Derby, while Ortiz muscled out 32 in last year’s HRD.
The 2011 MLB All-Star Game will be held on Tuesday, July 12. The Home Run Derby will be shown on ESPN on Monday, July 11 at 8:00PM ET.
