Dance City Updated Preakness Odds

(The Spread) – We continue our look at the updated odds for the 2011 Preakness by checking out mid-range contender Dance City.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com listed Dance City at 10/1 to win the Preakness when the opening odds were released shortly after the running of the Kentucky Derby earlier this month. But now Dance City stands at 12/1 as post time for the 136th running of the Preakness draws closer.

In four career races, Dance City has never finished off the board. He broke his maiden at Aqueduct last December by placing second in the 1-mile race. He then won took home his first career victory at Gulfstream on the 1 1/8-mile track in his debut this year. He won again at Gulfstream in March at an allowance and then placed third at the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby in April.

Dance City is owned by the Estate of Edward P. Evans and is trained by Todd Pletcher, who has put together a Hall of Fame-caliber career. Jockey Ramon Dominguez will have the mount tonight at Pimlico Race Course when Dance City starts out of the No. 8 post position.
